About Show Bloom

Hello to my family, friends, clients and fellow gardeners! Many years ago, when deciding what course to pursue in college and in life, my interests focused on animals. I felt Veterinary science was not quite there so the influence of my great Aunt Lisa directed me towards gardening and I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture in 1977.

I have been and done most components in this field; indoor plant maintenance, garden centers, orchid grower - including tissue propagation, floral design, wedding preparations, the proverbial office job as an assistant product manager of nursery stock - on the phone all day with growers and truckers and our sales force. This office job became wearisome and I wanted to be outdoors so I became an estate manger of several very large properties in Pennsylvania. I had gardens as well as horses and pools to care for. A move to Vermont and a continuation of estate gardening with a wonderful historical formal garden: Hildene (Robert Todd Lincoln's summer estate - son of Abraham) and commercial property:  Orivs' corporate headquarters.

Gardening in Vermont is seven months at best compared to ten in Pennsylvania, so I worked at Stratton Ski Area, and of course seeking better snow conditions brought me first to Jackson Hole and then to Snowbird. For six years I traveled back to VT for my gardening business in the summers until I discovered mountain biking and sailing, hence the full-time move to Utah in 2001.

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."
-Marcel Proust

"I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire
I choose to inhabit my days to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid, more accessible,
to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which came to
me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which came to
me as blossom goes on as fruit."
